Admitting defeat, we broke down and purchased pre-made coop and 'playpen'. These should be here in the next week so I will show all our girls once they have settled in. Did I mention that my hubby and a couple of friends stared at the purchased wood for several days before I stepped in and printed them a plan for a Chicken Tractor but seeing their utter confusion just ordered these today. I had no idea PetSmart had these available online. I did search for some local sources and the base models were around $850 without delivery, so being mindful of expenses (these chickens were not even my idea to get) I found both for under $500, delivered!
WOW! all this and i hope the chickens love it...I know I would if I were a chick! Ya did good mom ma...now go scramble up me an omelet.

Dar,
DeleteThe Chickens, or as we call them 'The Girls' are loving their new home. The first day they seemed confused but now they line up in the morning to be let out to play in the open space pen and in the evening clime right up to their roost (living room) and snuggle in for the night in the nesting boxes in a cute 'pig' pile! I'll try to take some more pictures of them, when they are not looking.

Lol.... well someone wants breakfast :) That looks so awesome! I have had 52 chickens when my kids were young, but never in a coop that fancy! That looks amazing! Tell me how you like it, after a while. If it still works for you :)

Sharie,
DeleteWe already know that I need to amend the plan to add another 2 nesting boxes but until they are more mature this space works for them and for us.
