Tonight's Meal was... Sheppard's Pie

Our meal tonight, Sheppard’s Pie with mushrooms, corn and sour cream Yukon Gold mashed potatoes. This is the first time I've made this since Tony passed away. I just could not bring myself to make this meal because this was the last dinner we shared. I will never forget the image of Tony standing at my front door, his pants undone, rubbing his full belly with leftovers in his hand and a grin from ear to ear on his beautifully happy face. We told each other I 'love you' planned our next week’s Sunday supper and said good night. That was the last time I saw my friend of 19 years....I've missed him every day. This will make its way to my Recovery Journal, one step at a time towards healing.

  1. Hi Natasha. Your meal looks wonderful. Sweetie, I'm so sorry for your loss. I too have lost a loved one very close to me and it still hurts to this day. I'm also doing a "Healing Journal". I'm not posting it on my blog because it's too personal. I will keep you in my prayers. Take care, Jenny

  5. Pammi,

I am sorry for your loss... the sense of smell is our strongest memory trigger so it's no wonder we remember our loved ones in association with food.
